We’ve been to Taiwan before, even when the visa-free privilege was not yet implemented, and we could say that applying for a Taiwan visa is pretty straightforward.

How to apply for a Taiwan visa for Filipinos
Step 1: Know your Taiwan visa type and secure all documents
See TECO’s official list of Taiwan Visitor Visas to know your visa type and gather all your requirements.
Taiwan visa requirements for Tourism Purpose:
- Taiwan Visa Online Application Form (fill out, print, and sign)
- Two (2) Colored Passport-size Photos (45mm × 35mm) taken in the last six (6) months
- Philippine Passport with at least 6 months validity
- Photocopy of Passport Bio Page
- Travel Plan / Itinerary with details of your Taiwan trip
- Round-trip Flights and Proof of Accommodation
- Evidence of Funds: Bank Statement issued within one (1) month
- Certificate of Employment
- Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card) and Entry and Exit visa stamps (for non-Filipino foreign nationals)
- PSA Birth Certificate
- PSA Marriage Certificate (for married female Filipino applicants)

Step 2: Fill out the Taiwan online visa application form
Visit the official Taiwan online visa application form. Under General Visa Applications, click “New“.
Follow the instructions, and input all the required information, including your travel details, personal information, passport details, contact details, and other questions.
After completing the form, download, print in an A4-sized paper, and then sign.
Step 3: Submit your Taiwan visa requirements to TECO
All your documents must be original with 1 set of photocopies on A4-sized paper. They must also be arranged according to the list of requirements (as in Step #1). The original documents will be returned after the review.
After gathering all your Taiwan visa requirements, you can submit them to Taipei Economic Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO) located at 41F, Tower 1, RCBC Plaza, Ayala Avenue, Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Step 5: Wait for the Taiwan visa processing time
After submitting your Taiwan visa application, you will have to wait for the processing period.
The Taiwan visa processing time takes about five (5) working days for regular applications, and three (3) working days for rush applications.
Do note that this could still change depending on your circumstance.
Step 6: Claim your passport (with or without a visa)
After the processing period, you can then claim your passport from TECO during the releasing schedule: Monday to Friday, 1.45pm to 4.45pm.
If you are unable to pick up your passport, an authorized representative can claim on your behalf. The representative must have an original Authorization Letter and a valid government ID, together with your official receipt.

1. When should I apply for a Taiwan visa?
The Taiwan visa is valid for three (3) months from the date of issuance. So, the earliest you can apply is at least 90 days or 3 months prior to your intended travel date.
2. Can someone process my Taiwan visa application on my behalf?

3. Is there a courier service for my Taiwan visa?
Unfortunately, TECO has no courier service, so you must personally claim your passport. If not, an authorized representative can do it for you (as in #2) by presenting an authorization letter, a valid government-issued ID, and your official receipt.
4. Do I need to book my Taiwan flights and accommodation?
Yes, round-trip Taiwan flights and proof of accommodation are part of the Taiwan visa requirements, especially for tourism purposes.

5. What other supporting documents can I submit?
Supporting documents you may submit are credit card statements, proof of owned assets, and a cover letter, especially if you lack some requirements.

Submitting complete requirements does NOT guarantee your Taiwan visa. It is still the discretion of TECO’s consular officers whether or not you’ll be granted a visa.
7. Will there be an interview?
In general, there is no interview for a Taiwan visa application, but it may be requested in some circumstances, especially if clarifications are needed.
8. If I get denied, when can I reapply for a Taiwan visa?

If you lost your receipt, you may still claim your passport with a notarized affidavit of loss and a copy of your valid ID.

If it’s a multiple-entry visa, you don’t have to apply for a new visa — just bring your expired passport with the visa together with your new passport.
