First on my list is no other than Ormoc City Plaza. You’ve never been to my hometown if you’ve not explored the plaza. This is a popular tourist spot in Ormoc where locals spend quality time with friends and loved ones while enjoying the cool sea breeze.
I had fond childhood memories here with my parents. We would always go for a walk during the day and try a variety of street food at night. Truly, it is a great place in Ormoc to unwind and create lasting memories.
2. Ormoc City Museum
At the heart of Ormoc City is the People’s Museum, located at the old Ormoc City Hall. Here, you can learn about the history, art, and culture of the city and its people. The museum contains paintings, documents, photographs, books, and instruments that represent the Ormocanons’ identity. It is a significant Ormoc city tourist spot I recommend you visit if you love culture and arts.
3. Sal’s Pineapple Plantation
Located in Brgy. Hibunawon, Sal’s Pineapple Plantation is a popular tourist spot in Ormoc. Not only will you enjoy the sweetness of every bit of fresh pineapple you taste, but you will also appreciate the plantation’s scenic view.
“Piña” is one of Ormoc’s pride and is even celebrated with a festive event featuring a street dancing competition, similar to the Sinulog Festival in Cebu. The celebration usually takes place at the Ormoc City Plaza and happens annually during mid-year.

At 650 meters above sea level, this lake has a similar altitude to Tagaytay, making it cooler compared to the average temperatures in most places in the Philippines.

Lake Janagdan is a hidden gem in Brgy. Cabintan, and definitely a top tourist spot in Ormoc City for nature lovers. This crater lake is 200 meters in diameter and situated on top of Mt. Janagdan at 1,120 meters above mean sea level. The road may be difficult, but when you get there, you will be amazed by how calm and pristine the water is.
6. Alto Peak
Alto Peak is one of the best Ormoc tourist spots if you love adventure and nature. It is 1,332 meters above sea level and is the highest peak in Leyte and Eastern Visayas. It is definitely not for the faint-hearted if you attempt to reach the summit.
From Brgy. Ubas in Jaro, Leyte, you will need to walk for 30 minutes to reach the campsite, but reaching the summit requires you to hike a challenging trail. The 14.6km out-and-back route via the Lake Janagdan trail takes about 5 hours to complete, but for some hikers, it may take 2 to 3 days with a few stops for an immersive experience.
7. Sulfatara
Sulfatara is a natural beauty located in Brgy. Cabintan, Ormoc City, Leyte. The route is easier than Alto Peak, as you mostly have to walk along a paved road. You will know you are near your destination once you start to smell the hydrogen sulfide emitted by the sulfur spring in Sulfatara.
